Bengaluru Whitefield Skywalk: connecting Pattandur Agrahara Metro station to International Tech Park Bengaluru (ITPB) is going to benefit at least 50,000
techies every day. Launched on Friday, the stretch allows commuters to reach directly to the tech hub, eliminating the 10-minute walk through unsafe passages earlier. ITPB, which is a home to around 140 tech companies, sees 60,000–70,000 employees every day. The skywalk makes the commute less stressful and more comfortable, while helping reduce traffic in Whitefield. The skywalk connects crucial parts in the area, including the Park Square Mall.
Why It Matters
ITPB, a home to roughly 140 companies, sees a daily footfall of 60,000 to 70,000 employees. The office-goers were forced to use risky service road crowded with autos, cars, and parked vehicles, reported The Times of India.

The new skywalk changes the daily routine in several key ways:
Safety: The skywalk is only for pedestrians, eliminating the risk of traffic accidents.
Night-Shift Security: The path has been well-lit, providing a safe environment for those working late hours or arriving on early shifts.
Time Efficiency: Since the connectivity is direct, it cuts down walking time significantly. Earlier, the commuters had to take a 10-minute-long walk, which will not be necessary now.
Better Integration: Beyond the office, the skywalk also connects crucial hubs in the area, including Park Square Mall.
Easing the Whitefield Gridlock
Whitefield is notorious for its vehicle pile-ups, especially during peak hours. By providing a comfortable, weather-shielded, and direct route from the Metro, the skywalk encourages more techies to ditch their cars in favor of public transport.
"It’s a total game-changer," said one daily commuter. "We no longer have to dodge traffic on the service road. It makes the walk from the Metro station actually pleasant."
