Industrialist Anil Ambani was questioned for over 7.5 hours by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday and has been asked to appear again
on Friday, March 20, said officials. Ambani did not respond to any media questions and left in his car after questioning. The CBI summoned Anil Ambani in an alleged bank fraud case of around Rs 2929.05 crores revolving around the SBI Bank, officials said. The case has been registered against Anil Ambani, Reliance Communications Ltd and on a complaint of the State Bank of India. Anil Ambani joined the probe early morning at CBI HQ. CBI, in its multiple FIRs filed against Anil Ambani, has alleged fund diversion, misappropriation and other irregularities in the loan funds issued to the company. "Anil Ambani will be appearing before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Delhi on 19th and 20th March, 2026, for examination, in connection with the FIR registered on the basis of a complaint filed by the State Bank of India regarding Reliance Communications Ltd. (RCOM)," the spokesperson for Anil Ambani said in a statement on Thursday. "The appearance is in furtherance of Mr Ambani's commitment to extend full cooperation in the matter with all agencies," the Anil Ambani spokesperson added. The anti-corruption probe agency had booked Anil Ambani, last August for allegedly defrauding the SBI to the tune of Rs 2929.05 crore Meanwhile, on March 14, 2026 the CBI questioned Jai Anmol Ambani in connection with a bank fraud case, officials confirmed. The agency had first registered the case last December, naming Jai Anmol Ambani, Reliance Housing Finance Limited, and former RHFL CEO and whole-time director Ravindra Sudhalkar over an alleged financial irregularity totaling Rs 228.06 crore. The complaint, filed by the bank, accused RHFL, Jai Anmol Ambani, and several others, including unidentified public officials, of cheating, criminal conspiracy, and misconduct. According to the FIR, the transactions in question took place between 2016 and 2019. Before formally registering the case, the CBI also conducted searches at locations associated with Jai Anmol Ambani.
