Firms that fail to act could face action. The issue intensified in July after investigations found paid Instagram ads that appeared to promote access to child sexual abuse material. MeitY issued notices and summoned company officials. NCPCR opened an inquiry. NHRC examined whether platforms met their duty under the POCSO Act to report suspected offences to local police. Meta has so far said it reports such cases to a US agency, which then forwards them to India’s cybercrime portal.
