Delhi AQI: Delhi’s air quality remained in the severe category on Tuesday morning, with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 389 as a thick
blanket of smog covered Delhi-NCR. Dense fog further reduced visibility across the city, compounding travel disruptions. The capital recorded its worst December air quality since 2018. Owing to poor visibility, at least 128 flights were cancelled, eight diverted, and nearly 470 flights delayed at Delhi airport on Monday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for dense fog in Delhi, while yellow alerts were sounded for Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Noida and Faridabad. Commuters have been advised to drive cautiously as low visibility may affect travel. However, light rain is likely later this week, which could bring temporary relief.
