Politicians across party lines briefly set aside differences to share the stage at the wedding festivities of Yashaswini Jindal, daughter of industrialist
and BJP MP Naveen Jindal. A video from the sangeet night shows BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra and NCP’s Supriya Sule dancing together to the Bollywood hit Deewangi Deewangi from the 2007 film Om Shanti Om. The clip also shows Naveen Jindal joining the trio as guests cheered them on.
Another video from the evening, shared by Sangita Jindal, wife of industrialist Sajjan Jindal, captured a rare appearance by the four Jindal brothers - Ratan, Prithviraj, Sajjan and Naveen - dancing to Daler Mehndi’s 1990s track Na Na Na Re. The brothers were seen laughing and celebrating together on stage. "It was wonderful to see all my brothers-in-law dancing together… Feel so blessed" Sangita Jindal wrote.
The wedding of Yashaswini Jindal and Shashwat Somani was held at the Jindal residence in Delhi and drew political leaders, business families and cultural figures. Naveen Jindal, chairman of Jindal Steel & Power and the youngest of the four brothers, entered Parliament in 2004 as a Congress MP before joining the BJP in 2024.
Yashaswini, born in 1999, is the only daughter of Naveen and noted Kuchipudi dancer Shallu Jindal. She studied in Delhi before completing a psychology degree and Mandarin certification at Yale University. Trained under renowned Kuchipudi gurus Raja, Radha and Kaushalya Reddy, she has been recognised with Delhi’s Stylish Youth Icon and ICUNR awards.
Her groom, Shashwat Somani, comes from the Somani business family. A UCLA graduate with an MBA from London Business School, he heads strategy at Somany Impresa Ltd, which operates in glass, sanitaryware and construction materials.
