In a bid to ensure seamless conduct of Re-NEET 2026, the Bengaluru Police and District Administration have announced precautionary measures, including
the declaration of a 200-meter radius around all designated examination centres as a ‘prohibited zone’, directing that all photo copy (Xerox) shops, cyber cafes, and computer typing centers operating in this area shall remain closed on June 21, 2026, during the examination hours, i.e., 2 PM to 5:15 PM. The order issued by B. Dayananda, IPS, Police Commissioner and Additional District Magistrate, Bengaluru City, under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), follows a request made to the concerned authorities to proclaim the area falling under the ‘200-meter radius’ a restricted zone to ensure smooth functioning of India’s largest medical entrance test. “Based on credible information received regarding this matter, and to maintain public peace and ensure the examination is conducted in a fair and malpractice-free manner, it is deemed necessary to enforce a prohibitory order within a 200-meter radius of all examination centres. Hence, the following order is issued,” the official notice stated. As per the testing agency, the exam will be held on June 21, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM, across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad for over 22.79 lakh candidates. Candidates with disabilities (PwD/PwBD) eligible for compensatory time will be permitted to write the examination up to 6:20 PM. To ensure smooth conduct, a nationwide mock drill was held across all examination centres across the country from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM to gauge question paper handling, exam readiness, and examination security. The Centre is adopting stringent measures, such as a two-tier CRPF+CISF escort with IAF airlift, 4-layer CCTV with AI surveillance, biometric and facial recognition before entry, multiple layers of frisking, and multi-level oversight with direct monitoring from the Prime Minister’s Office, to avoid repetition of earlier controversy.
