New Delhi: A wall collapse in South-East Delhi’s Jaitpur area on Monday claimed the lives of seven people, including two young girls. The victims, mostly
from the same locality, were trapped under debris before emergency services could pull them out. Delhi Fire Services said they received a distress call about the collapse of a wall in Hari Nagar, Jaitpur. Two fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the scene, where eight people were pulled from the rubble. Despite swift rescue efforts, seven of the eight were critically injured and later died. Five were taken to Safdarjung Hospital, where three – Shabibul (30), Rabibul (30) and Rubina (25) – succumbed to their injuries. The remaining three were rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre, but none survived. They were identified as Muttu Ali (45), Dolly (25) and two young girls, Rukhsana (6) and Hasina (7). The sole survivor, Hashibul, is undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital. Doctors say his condition remains serious, and he is being closely monitored. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse, while officials have urged residents in older, dilapidated buildings to remain cautious during the ongoing monsoon season.
