Delhi Weather Today: Delhi is expected to witness another rainy day on Wednesday, August 5, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow
alert and forecasting a generally cloudy sky accompanied by moderate rainfall across the national capital. The weather office has also predicted fairly widespread to widespread rainfall over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and eastern Uttar Pradesh between August 4 and August 6, with rain activity likely to continue in Delhi until August 10.
Delhi Weather Today: Heavy Showers Bring Relief
Rain lashed several parts of Delhi on Tuesday, providing relief from the prevailing humid conditions. According to the IMD, Ayanagar recorded the highest rainfall at 49.3 mm between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm, followed by Safdarjung (9.4 mm), Palam (8.1 mm), Lodhi Road (3.7 mm) and Ridge (1.5 mm). In the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Tuesday, Ayanagar had already received 23.6 mm of rainfall, while Safdarjung, Palam and Ridge recorded trace rainfall.The IMD has forecast one or two spells of very light to light rain at most places on Wednesday, with moderate rainfall at a few locations, especially during the morning to noon hours, followed by another spell of light rain in the evening and night. The maximum temperature is expected to remain between 32°C and 34°C, while the minimum is likely to settle between 23°C and 25°C.
On Tuesday, Safdarjung recorded a maximum of 33.5°C, 0.7 degrees below normal, while the minimum settled at 27.4°C, slightly above normal. Ayanagar remained the coolest station, recording a maximum of 30.6°C, 3.4 degrees below normal.
Delhi Weather Today: IMD Warns Of Waterlogging, Traffic Delays
The IMD has warned that the ongoing rain could trigger minor traffic disruptions, waterlogging in low-lying areas, and an increased risk of vehicle accidents. Residents have been advised to check traffic conditions before travelling, follow official advisories and avoid roads prone to flooding wherever possible.Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality continued to improve due to the rainfall. The city's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 64 on Tuesday evening, remaining in the "satisfactory" category for the fourth consecutive day this month, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
