What is the story about?
The online registration for Chardham Yatra 2026 has begun on Friday, with pilgrims now able to sign up through a mobile app starting 7 am on March 6. The pilgrimage
to the four sacred shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri in Uttarakhand begins next month.
When Does the Yatra Begin
The pilgrimage will begin on April 19 on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, with the opening of the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri. The Kedarnath temple doors will open on April 22, followed by Badrinath on April 23.
How to Register Online
Pilgrims can register through the official mobile app starting 7 am on March 6 from the official site: https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in/ . For those who prefer offline registration, counters will be set up in Rishikesh, Haridwar and Dehradun, opening two days before the start of the yatra on April 17.
Process of Registration

- Fill in personal and travel details.
- Upload valid ID proof.
- Complete OTP verification.
- Download your Char Dham Yatra Registration Letter with QR Code.
Now, pilgrims can also register for the Char Dham Yatra via WhatsApp.
All you need to do is type YATRA and send it to 8394833833 on WhatsApp. Following this, you will receive a series of questions to answer, and the 4 dham registration process will be completed through the app.
Registration is compulsory for all the pilgrims who want to take up this journey. This system ensures the safety of travellers and also helps in regulating the number of visitors to each shrine. Additionally, the Char Dham registration card offers access to special facilities provided by the government, such as food and lodging. Basically, the registration acts as a yatra e-pass/permit/parchi/registration card.
