The Delhi Police Special Cell is investigating whether national political parties played any role in the alleged larger conspiracy behind July 20-22 protests
led by the Cockroach Janta Party over the NEET paper leak issue, sources have told Times Now. The conspiracy probe has been formally transferred to the Special Cell, while cases related to rioting, vandalism, assault and other incidents during the protests are being investigated by the Crime Branch. Investigation roles were split after police decided to examine whether the violence was planned or a spontaneous eruption. According to sources, Special Cell investigators are examining whether national political parties and other entities played a role in planning, facilitating or instigating the violence. Officials are also analysing digital evidence, social media activity, video footage and communication records as part of the conspiracy probe. Earlier, Delhi Police had indicated that it was looking into a "larger conspiracy" behind the unrest that accompanied the "Chalo Sansad" march. Sources said police are also scrutinising speeches delivered at protest sites, funding details and logistical arrangements made during the agitation. Investigators are examining whether any coordinated efforts were made to mobilise crowds or trigger clashes with security personnel.
20 FIRs Filed So Far
Delhi Police has so far registered 20 FIRs in connection with the protests and the violence that followed. Of these, 13 FIRs related to violence are currently awaiting detailed directions from the Supreme Court. One of the cases pertains to the alleged unauthorised flying of a drone during the protests.
Apart from the violence-related cases, police registered two FIRs directly linked to the protests, while five FIRs concern alleged assaults on journalists covering the demonstrations.
SC Order On FIR Against Student Protesters
The Supreme Court, which is hearing petitions related to the protests and allegations of police excesses, recently directed authorities not to take coercive action against youth protesters and ordered the preservation of CCTV, drone and other digital evidence linked to the events.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police also received a Zero FIR from Ghaziabad Police regarding alleged abusive remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the agitation. Sources said the Delhi Police has decided not to pursue any action in that matter.
