In a rare display of public outrage in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), the family of a slain Pahalgam attack terrorist, killed during 'Operation Mahadev,'
humiliated a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander, a local journalist has claimed. Liyaqat Inqliabi alleged that the LeT commander was kicked, slapped, and thrown out by the relatives of the dead militant for luring local youth into LeT's proxy war against India. Inqliabi further said that people in PoK are well aware that LeT handlers exploit and brainwash young men, sending them across the Line of Control to fight a militarily superior India, a mission that almost always ends in their death. He accused the group of sacrificing Kashmiri lives to further Pakistan's proxy-terror campaign in India. The 'Janaza-Ghaib (funeral in absentia)' of the said Pahalgam terrorist was also carried out in his village in PoK recently. Tahir Habib, one of the Pahalgam terrorists, was killed in Operation Mahadev in J&K on July 28. An 'A' category terrorist, his elimination in Srinagar last week, along with two others, was a major breakthrough for Indian security forces. Videos and pictures posted on Telegram channels showed his 'Janaza-Ghaib being held in his village in Rawalkote. The event is said to have been attended by local LeT commander Rizwan Hanif, even though Tahir's family explicitly barred LeT members from attending the funeral. However, the LeT commander reportedly threatened mourners with a gun. Ultimately, he was thrashed by the family and had to flee. "All three terrorists involved in the killing of our citizens at Baisaran valley in Pahalgam have now been eliminated," Shah told the Parliament. "Security forces went to a great extent to establish that the identity of terrorists was the same as those responsible for the Pahalgam attack," Shah said on the second day of the debate in Lok Sabha.
Twenty-six civilians were killed by terrorists on April 22 in the Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam. More than 100 terrorists have been eliminated since with 'Operation Sindoor' where India carried out precision strikes and destroyed terror launchpads deep in Pakistan, and now with 'Operation Mahadev'.
