The Delhi Government has announced the launch of a new initiative for school students. Called 'Delhi AI Grind', this citywide AI innovation initiative is being
implemented across all education districts of Delhi from December to March with the aim to train 5 lakh youngsters in artificial intelligence (AI). This inititative is a part of its New Era of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Vision (NEEEV). "The Delhi AI Grind initiative under the Directorate of Education’s ongoing NEEV (New Era of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Vision) programme, focuses on fostering innovation, entrepreneurial thinking and real-world problem-solving among students. Dilli AI Grind equips students with Artificial Intelligence-driven tools and methodologies to develop scalable, technology-enabled solutions for real-world challenges," an official notification from the Rekha Gupta led government stated. "The 'Delhi AI Grind' which is a six-month citywide innovation movement by the Government of NCT of Delhi intends to empower 5 lakh young minds to solve real-world challenges using Artificial Intelligence. It will transform classrooms into innovation labs and students into changemakers by connecting schools, colleges, and communities through a shared mission — to make Delhi the Knowledge and AI Capital of India. From awareness to action, Dilli AI Grind turns learning into impact," the notice added. The initiative will cover students in the 10 to 25 years age group, with mandatory participation for students of Classes 6 to 9, and Class 11 students, as per programme guidelines. It will also include orientation sessions, school-level Mini Grinds, district-level evaluations, a city-level showcase, and prescribed post-programme activities. The schools are supposed to register on the Delhi AI Grind website and nominate five campus ambassadors among the students before December 8. The school-level mini grind sessions are scheduled from December 15, followed by an internal evaluation. The students will participate in selection at the district and state levels. This programme is being undertaken under the leadership of the Department of Education, Higher & Technical Education, in Collaboration with VISV Foundation and industry partners under the overall supervision of the Grind Secretariat, with the objective of strengthening AI awareness, structured problem solving and future-skills learning among students. KS Upadhyay, the Additional Director of Education, is designated as the nodal officer for school-level coordination on behalf of the Directorate.
