As the capital city woke up to a heavy downpour, students and parents are now wondering if schools and colleges will be shut today. Heavy rain lashed parts
of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Thursday, which brought a huge respite from the hot and humid conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR, forecasting moderate spells of rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in Delhi NCR. As the city welcomed the unexpected spell of rain, many students and parents are wondering if schools and colleges will remain shut today. However, there is no such order from the Delhi government, the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration, or even the Gurugram district administration. As of now, students will have to attend their classes as scheduled and schools are expected to take normal precautions. Usually, state governments or DMs announce school holidays in extreme weather conditions. Many schools now also shift to online classes to ensure students' studies are not negatively impacted, while also ensuring that students remain safe in their houses.

"Due to a heavy rainfall alert and continuous rain over the past several hours, the Palghar and Raigad administrations have declared a holiday for all schools today, July 2," an official notice stated. "Authorities have also advised people to step out only if absolutely necessary and urged them to remain alert in view of the prevailing weather conditions."
According to the IMD forecast issued on July 1, 2026, Raigad district is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at several places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated locations between July 1 and July 3, 2026.
