What is the story about?
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) first provisional allotment list 2026 is out. The result link has been made public by the Consortium of National Law Universities
(NLUs) on January 7, 2026. Candidates who appeared in the exam can check the status at consortiumofnlus.ac.in. To access the seat allotment result, candidates will have to use their login credentials. The official website reads, "The First Provisional Allotment List for the 5-Year Integrated Law Programme based on the CLAT 2026 results is available below. Candidates can click on the respective university links to view the detailed allotment list."

- One should go to the official website of the NLU consortium and log in with required credentials.
- Click on first allotment list on the CLAT 2026 official portal.
- CLAT 2026 seat allotment list will show up on the screen.
- Go through the same and download it
- Take its printout for future references

What's next?
The CLAT First Seat Allotment 2026 allows candidates to log in to their accounts and view the allotment sequence. After seat allocation, candidates must choose one of three options—Freeze, Float, or Exit—based on their preferences.- Selecting Freeze confirms the allotted NLU and course, and the candidate will not participate in further counselling rounds.
- Choosing Float means the candidate accepts the current seat but remains eligible for upgradation to a higher-preferred NLU or course in the next round.
- Opting for Exit indicates that the candidate withdraws from the CLAT 2026 counselling process.
