Delhi Police have put up posters of 19 wanted terrorists linked to groups including the Indian Mujahideen, Al Qaeda and Khalistani outfits across the national
capital ahead of Independence Day. The move is part of the annual security exercise conducted before August 15, with authorities stepping up surveillance and public awareness over potential threats to Delhi and the country. The national capital remains on high alert ahead of Independence Day celebrations.

The posters show Indian Mujahideen operatives Riyaz Bhatkal and Shabbandari Mohammad Iqbal alias Iqbal Bhatkal, along with Al Qaeda-linked Mohammad Sharjeel Akhtar, Abu Sufiyan and Syed Mohammad Arshiyan.The list of most-wanted terrorists prominently includes Ranjit Singh alias Neeta and Paramjit Singh Pamma of the Khalistan Zindabad Force; Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dala of the Khalistan Tiger Force; and Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, Wadhawa Singh Babbar and Gurmeet Singh Bagga of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
Precautionary Measures Taken Every Year
Every year, the threat of terror attacks in Delhi is considered particularly high around August 15 and January 26. Keeping this in mind, posters listing wanted terrorists who pose a security threat are issued as a precautionary measure, so that the public can remain alert and immediately inform the authorities if they spot any suspicious person.Police have appealed to the public to immediately inform them if any of the suspects listed in the posters are spotted or if anyone has information about them. The posters carry the Delhi Police control room number (112) and contact numbers for the Special Cell. Delhi Police has also said that an appropriate reward will be given for credible information and that the identity of the informant will be kept completely confidential.
