We might be on our way to becoming a ‘Vishwaguru’; however, when it comes to civic sense and a sense of keeping our surroundings clean– India is not exactly
the best. In fact, the issue of ‘civic sense’ is seemingly turning into one of the most debated matters among Indians. Amid the same, an incident came forward, putting the country and its people to shame, yet against, as far as appropriate public behaviour is concerned. The clip was recorded by a man in Jammu and Kashmir, where he was calling out tourists for heavily trashing and littering the snowy mountains of Gulmarg. In the video, the man showed a spot full of used cups, plastic bottles, bags and more. Allegedly, the trash was thrown by some people who were in Gulmarg for a shooting. Calling out the group’s civic sense, the man asked people to treat Gulmarg with “respect”. Times Now could not confirm the details of the post. Check out the viral post: Gulmarg is not your dustbin. It’s a paradise—treat it with respect. If you can carry plastic up the mountains, you can carry it back. No excuses. No littering. No damage. Respect nature or don’t come at all. Keep Gulmarg clean, keep it real,” the post read. The post was shared on Instagram by the handle ‘Himalayan Edges’. The post was shared a day ago and pulled many views from people.
Internet’s reactions:
“Absolutely shameful. There should be some fines imposed on littering,” a user read. “Please start enforcing strict fines for littering, otherwise, people simply won’t take it seriously,” commented the next person.

“Don’t allow any shooting to anyone with no civic sense. What are these people even doing? This is ridiculous. I hope they understand what they are doing,” added another person in the comment section.
“This is damaging nature to a level that is not only bad for nature but also embarrassing for the country. Why do we Indians lack civic sense to such a level?” asked the next. “A strict fine is required against people like these,” wrote the next.
