Spanish emergency services are responding after two high-speed trains derailed near the town of Adamuz in the Andalusia region, with reports of multiple
casualties. The derailment occurred on the Madrid–Andalusia route, according to Carina Mejías, a member of Spain’s Congress of Deputies, who confirmed the incident in a public statement. "My full solidarity with the injured people, to whom I wish a swift and complete recovery," she said.

Mejías criticised the government over the incident, saying the derailment was "a direct consequence of the government’s negligence" and citing "years of lack of investment, maintenance, and oversight".
"The insecurity in Spanish railways is a matter of political responsibility," she added. "And we are going to demand it."
Authorities have not yet released an official cause of the derailment. Emergency services remain at the scene as investigations continue.
