US President Donald Trump announced what he described as a "historic" agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza,
calling it a major step towards lasting peace and security in the region. In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said the agreement would pave the way for Gaza to be governed by a new Palestinian administration working alongside an international Board of Peace. Trump Announces Gaza Disarmament Agreement Trump said the agreement marks a critical milestone in efforts to reshape governance in Gaza following months of conflict. "Today, the Board of Peace reached a HISTORIC agreement for the COMPLETE DISARMAMENT of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza," he wrote. He added that the deal would help ensure Gaza is no longer used as a base for attacks against Israel while allowing Palestinians to establish a new government focused on serving its people. Phased Implementation Planned According to Trump, the agreement will be implemented in carefully structured phases. As armed groups complete the disarmament process, Israeli forces would gradually withdraw from Gaza, while an International Stabilization Force would work alongside a newly formed Palestinian police force to maintain security. Trump said the arrangement is part of the implementation of his 20-Point Plan, which he has previously promoted as a roadmap for ending the conflict. New Palestinian Government to Oversee Gaza Trump said Gaza would eventually be administered by a new Palestinian government that would cooperate closely with the Board of Peace. He said the new administration would focus on rebuilding the territory while ensuring security for both Palestinians and Israel. Trump Thanks Regional Mediators The US president thanked Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye for their mediation efforts, saying they played an important role in securing the agreement. He also praised his administration's negotiating team for what he described as months of diplomatic work. "I want to thank the mediators—Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye—for their important efforts, and especially my outstanding team, whose tireless work made this historic breakthrough possible," Trump wrote. Says October 7 Threat 'Will Not Be Allowed to Rebuild' Referring to the October 7 attack that triggered the Gaza war, Trump said the threat posed by Hamas would not be permitted to re-emerge. "The threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 will NOT be allowed to rebuild," he said. Trump concluded his announcement by calling the agreement an "amazing development" that many had believed was impossible to achieve. No Immediate Confirmation As of now, there has been no immediate independent confirmation from Hamas, the Israeli government, Palestinian officials or international mediators regarding the agreement or the establishment of the reported Board of Peace.
