A brief slip by a senior Pakistani leader has unexpectedly turned into a viral moment online, drawing a wave of reactions across social media platforms.
During a formal diplomatic engagement in Islamabad, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar appeared to lose his footing while greeting Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, prompting immediate assistance from officials present at the venue. The incident occurred at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was captured on video, which quickly spread online. In the clip, Dar can be seen briefly stumbling before being helped back up, a moment that soon became the subject of widespread discussion and commentary. The meeting itself was part of a high-level quadrilateral gathering hosted by Pakistan, bringing together the foreign ministers of Egypt, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia. The talks were reportedly aimed at addressing rising regional tensions, particularly efforts to ease the situation between the United States and Iran. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, the two-day engagement includes “in-depth discussions on a range of issues, including efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region,” as reported by Reuters. Among the key topics on the agenda was the situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has effectively restricted since the escalation of hostilities that began on February 28. As the video circulated widely, social media users responded with a mix of humour and sarcasm. One user wrote, ''Sad situation in Pakistan. Earlier, only the economy and the nation were falling down; now even ministers are falling down.'' Another user wrote, ''The Pakistani foreign minister can’t even walk properly, yet he wants to make peace between Israel and Iran.'' One more quipped, ''Pakistan has fallen for Egypt. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar stumbled and fell to the floor.'' And the reactions kept coming in.
Despite the viral moment, diplomatic discussions continued, with Pakistan expressing willingness to facilitate dialogue. Following the meeting, officials said the country would be honoured to host “meaningful talks between the US and Iran in the coming days for a lasting settlement.”
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump did not directly comment on Pakistan’s proposed role but noted that Washington is actively engaged in discussions with Iran, adding that “we’re doing extremely well in that negotiation.”
