The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a major recruitment drive for teachers in urban schools run under the Basic Education Council. Minister of State
(Independent Charge) for Primary Education Sandeep Singh said that the state will recruit 10,000 new teachers and the appointment process will begin soon. Sharing the update through an official statement on social media platform X, the minister described education and employment as the “foundation of a prosperous Uttar Pradesh.” He said a proposal seeking approval for the recruitment of 10,000 teachers in urban schools under the Basic Education Council has already been submitted and cleared. “The appointment process will commence shortly,” the minister stated.
Sandeep Singh also said that the government is working to integrate the recruitment process for instructors in upper primary schools with the larger teacher recruitment initiative. The move is expected to help address staff shortages and improve the quality of education in government-run schools across urban areas of the state.
Thanking Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for approving the recruitment proposal, the minister said the state government remains committed to strengthening the education system while also creating employment opportunities for young people.

The announcement is likely to bring relief to thousands of teaching aspirants waiting for fresh vacancies in Uttar Pradesh. Several schools under the Basic Education Council have reportedly been functioning with inadequate teaching staff, especially in urban regions where student enrolment remains high.
While the government has confirmed the recruitment plan, the official notification detailing subject-wise vacancies, eligibility criteria, application dates and selection procedures has not yet been released. Candidates are expected to require qualifications such as UPTET or CTET certification along with the necessary teaching degrees or diplomas, as per existing norms followed in teacher recruitment across the state.
More details regarding the recruitment process are expected to be announced in the coming weeks through the official portals of the Uttar Pradesh education department and the Basic Education Council.
