A high-level review meeting chaired by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was held today (May 19) to assess preparations for the forthcoming NEET
UG Re-Examination. Stressing the need for complete integrity and transparency in the conduct of the examination, Pradhan directed that all gaps identified in the earlier examination process must be comprehensively addressed and eliminated. The Minister emphasised that the Re-NEET examination must be conducted in a secure, seamless and fool proof manner under stringent security protocols. Directions were also issued to hold coordination meetings with District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police across States to ensure robust monitoring and effective implementation of examination arrangements. While underscoring that vigilance and security at examination centres must remain uncompromised, Pradhan also instructed officials to ensure adequate arrangements for students, including transportation, drinking water and other essential facilities. Pradhan Minister directed authorities to ensure proper coordination with District Magistrates and SPs across states for ground-level vigilance, and complete elimination of gaps flagged in previous exam process. Officials have also been asked to ensure there is no issue caused to students due to transport. Pradhan also directed NTA to ensure there is proper arrangement for clean drinking water and basic facilities for students’ convenience. Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi, School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar, NTA DG Abhishek Singh, CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh and NVS Commissioner Rajesh Lakhani were also present in the meeting. This meeting was held to ensure that there are no issues while conducting the re-NEET. The medical entrance exam was conducted on May 3, following which the exam was cancelled due to paper leak allegations. An investigation is now being conducted by the CBI for these allegations. Meanwhile, NEET UG 2026 re-exam will be held on June 21 from 2 pm to 5:15 pm. It will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode in various cities across India and abroad. The exam will be held in 13 languages: English, Oriya, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Urdu, Marathi, Malayalam, Gujarati, Punjabi, Assamese, and Kannada. From next year, however, the medical entrance exam will be conducted in online mode.
