New Delhi: Indian Railways has rolled out two new Amrit Bharat Express trains, offering budget-friendly and comfortable long-distance travel with improved
speed and modern amenities. Both trains were virtually flagged off on 8 August 2025 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, further expanding India’s affordable rail network.
Sita-Madhi to Delhi: Connecting Bihar’s Heart to the Capital
The first train will run between Sitamarhi and Delhi, covering key stops such as Darbhanga, Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, Hajipur, Chhapra, Siwan, Bhatni, Deoria Sadar, and Gorakhpur, before reaching Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi. This service is a boost for travellers from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, offering better access to the capital.As per the railways, this route is designed to reduce travel strain and cater to passengers looking for a reliable and economical mode of transport. “Kifayati safar, sashakt sampark” (Affordable travel, empowered connectivity) is the motto driving this expansion.

Patna to Lucknow: Bridging Two Key Cities
The second Amrit Bharat Express will operate between Patna and Lucknow, connecting two major cities that see high passenger volumes throughout the year. This train aims to relieve congestion on the route while providing a cost-effective alternative for daily commuters and long-distance passengers alike.The Amrit Bharat Express trains are known for their improved speed, semi-modern coaches, bio-toilets, and advanced suspension for smoother rides. Each launch is part of the government’s larger plan to enhance regional rail infrastructure and passenger comfort without hiking ticket costs.
With both trains now operational, Indian Railways continues to reinforce its commitment to accessibility, affordability, and efficiency, particularly for tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
