Lucknow: Amid the ongoing controversy over the alleged embezzlement of Ram Temple donation funds, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday
launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party and the Congress, accusing them of obstructing the construction of the Ram Temple and disrespecting the faith of devotees.Addressing a public gathering in Ayodhya, the CM said the city had achieved what could not be accomplished in 500 years. "Ayodhya has done what could not be achieved in 500 years. Generations of saints, kings and people from every section of society struggled for the liberation of Ram Janmabhoomi. Those who once claimed that even a bird could not fly in Ayodhya are today witnessing lakhs of devotees visiting the Ram Temple," he said. CM Yogi accused the SP and Congress of creating hurdles in the Ram Temple movement and said that the Samajwadi Party and Congress tried to obstruct the construction of the temple, questioned Lord Ram's existence, ordered firing on Ram devotees and pushed Ayodhya into an identity crisis. Yogi questioned what he called their selective approach towards religious practices and said that those who talk about faith allowed namaz to be offered at the sacred Hanumangarhi temple and asked that will they ever allow the Hanuman Chalisa to be recited inside Jama Masjid?. He further claimed that the opposition was unhappy with the development taking place in Ayodhya because they themselves had failed to undertake such initiatives.Referring to infrastructure projects in the temple town, Yogi said facilities had been named after revered figures associated with the Ramayana and said that they are upset because projects have been named after Maharishi Valmiki and Nishadraj Guha—something they never did. We also built a grand statue depicting the meeting of Lord Ram and Nishadraj at Shringverpur, whereas they were busy allowing encroachments in the name of Waqf. While praising the BJP government, the CM said that the "double-engine government" had fulfilled the long-pending dream of constructing a grand Ram Temple and when intentions are honest and policies are clear, success follows. He further said that no one thought that an international airport could come up in Ayodhya. The Samajwadi Party opposed it and misled people, but today Maharishi Valmiki International Airport has connected Ayodhya with major cities across the country," he said. The Samajwadi party was quick to react and said that CM is now talking about Namaz and Temples so that he can divert the attention from the ongoing probe. The party further said that the BJP government has nothing to speak on development and hence they are choosing to only speak on such issues so that they can divert the attention
