Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal and four members of his family have been served notices under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)
of electoral rolls. The office of Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer has also served a notice to sitting Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The Delhi Election Commission has published online a list of around 31 lakh names with discrepancies and is sending notices to the persons named to present documents for verification. Every one in three voters in Delhi was removed from the draft roll published on August 31.
Arvind Kejriwal, Family Get Notice; AAP Hits Back
The office of Delhi CEO has issued a notice to Arvind Kejriwal, his wife Sunita Kejriwal, his son Pulkit Kejriwal, and his parents, Gobind Ram Kejriwal and Gita Devi. Kejriwal is a registered voter in the New Delhi-40 Assembly constituency.
According to Delhi Election Commission documents, 110 voters of Part-51, KG Marg, in the New Delhi Assembly constituency have been issued notices. The names of Kejriwal and members of his family are among them.
AAP reacted sharply on X, questioning the Election Commission's conduct. "Is everything happening in this country just to keep the Supreme Lord happy?" the party wrote, tagging @ECISVEEP.
It asked how the names of three-time Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his family members could be missing from the Delhi voter list.
Rekha Gupta's Entry Flagged, EC Says Validation Complete
During the SIR of Electoral Rolls 2026, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's entry, registered in Assembly Constituency 14 (Shalimar Bagh), was flagged in the list of logical discrepancies based on details in her Enumeration Form.
Amid reports of the exclusion of Rekha Gupta's name, the Election Commission said that a notice was issued as per ECI procedures, followed by physical field verification by the Booth Level Officer. "After the facts and documents were verified, her entry was validated and included for the Final Electoral Roll, which is scheduled to be published on November 4, 2026," the poll body said in a press note.
SC To Hear Pleas Against Deletion Of Names In Delhi
The Supreme Court on is scheduled to hear a plea against deletion of names from the electoral rolls under the SIR exercise in Delhi on September 21. The plea would be heard by a bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan submitted that the Election Commission has issued notices to 33 lakh of the 47 lakh people whose names have been deleted from the electoral rolls. The petitioners have also sought a disclosure of the criteria, definitions, algorithmic parameters and operational guidelines governing the classification of voters under the "Logical Discrepancies" category.
The plea filed under Article 32 of the Constitution has alleged violations of the fundamental rights guaranteed under Articles 14, 19 and 21, besides the constitutional rights under Articles 325 and 326.
Delhi SIR: 47 Lakh Voters Deleted
On August 31, the EC published a draft electoral roll under which 47 lakh voters were deleted from the list of 1.45 crore total voters. Around one in three voters in Delhi was removed from the draft electoral rolls.
The poll panel had said more than 43.32 lakh voters were found to have shifted or were absent during the SIR, over 2.82 lakh voters were found to have died, while more than 1.41 lakh were enrolled at multiple places.
