Due to this, the Punjab government had announced school holidays till August 30, which has now been extended till September 3. With this in mind, PSEB has also extended the application deadline for admissions this year. "In view of the possibility of floods and inclement weather in Punjab, a holiday has been declared in all schools till September 03 as per the instructions of the Punjab Government. Dr. Amarpal Singh, IAS (Reta.) Sharing the information, the Chairman Punjab School Education Board informed that in view of the circumstances, the dates of admission in classes VIII to XII have been extended," an official notification from PSEB stated. Dr. Singh announced that the Punjab School Education Board has extended the last date of admission for regular students in Classes 8 to 12 for the academic year 2025-26. The new deadline is September 10, 2025, instead of the earlier date of August 29, 2025. It was also informed that, as per the revised schedule, the date for registration/ continuation has been extended from September 9, 2025 to September 19, 2025. Meanwhile, all government and private educational institutions remain closed till Wednesday. "In accordance with the directives of Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, keeping in view the flood situation in Punjab, holidays have been declared in all government/aided/recognised and private schools in the state until September 3, 2025," Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said.
