Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has questioned Maharashtra Police over notices allegedly issued to CJP volunteers ahead of the party's
proposed protest in New Delhi on October 10. Dipke claimed that the cops are sending notices to CJP workers and asking them about their travel expenses and the source of funds for their proposed trip to Delhi. He also questioned the police warning that the protest could potentially turn violent. Sharing a picture of one such notice on X, Dipke wrote, “Maharashtra Police is sending notices to CJP volunteers asking for their Delhi travel expenses and threatening that the protest could turn violent. How can they make such a claim? Is something already being planned to disrupt our peaceful protest? Is protecting Gyanu more important than the safety and security of citizens?”
Reportedly, Ballarpur Police in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district issued a notice under Section 168 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to a local resident ahead of the proposed October 10 protest in Delhi. The notice reportedly informs the recipient about the planned agitation and asks them to refrain from participating in violent or unlawful activities.
The notice also reportedly warns against posting or sharing inflammatory or violent content on social media and directs the recipient to follow police instructions and avoid activities that could affect public peace and law and order.
Police further warned that appropriate preventive or criminal action could be taken if the directions are violated. The notice also refers to restrictions under Section 37(1)(3) of the Maharashtra Police Act.
The CJP has planned a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on October 10, with the party demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
‘October 10 Will See Massive Mobilisation’
Meanwhile, CJP co-convener and chief spokesperson Saurav Das said the October 10 protest would witness a “massive mobilisation” of young people, describing the call as one that belongs to the country's Gen Z.
Speaking to ANI, Das said, “Starting October 10th, the country is going to witness a massive mobilization of its youth. Even though the call for this protest may have originated from the 'Cockroach Janata Party,' the call itself belongs to the country's youth—to Gen Z.”
