Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha stopped by the 'Udan Yatri Cafe' at Mumbai Airport on Monday and had a cup of tea for just Rs 10. He shared
the moment on social media, sipping his beverage and praising the cafe's affordability. Sharing the post on X (formerly Twitter), Chadha wrote: "Visited the Udan Yatri café at Mumbai Airport and had chai for just ₹10. Was flying to Delhi and wanted chai before the flight. Spoke to several travellers while I was there. All of them happy, all of them saying the same thing: Easy on the pocket, good service, value for money. Affordable airport food is possible. And this is proof." The visit carries a certain irony, back in 2024, Chadha had publicly criticised inflated airport food prices, calling out Rs 100 water bottles and tea priced as high as Rs 250.

Part of a Larger Government Push
The post reignited public interest in the initiative, which forms part of a broader government effort to improve the passenger experience. The Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) jointly launched the Udan Yatri Cafe with a clear goal: to provide travellers with clean, quality food and beverages at prices that do not burn a hole in their pocket.
However, the outlet still sold items at inflated prices. Chadha took the matter in the Parliament, saying, "Passengers at the country's airports face a lot of problems due to overpriced food and poor management. A bottle of water is available at airports for Rs 100. Even a cup of tea costs Rs 200-250. Can't the government start cheap and reasonably priced canteens at airports?"
This triggered a backlash, following the reduction of prices to much more affordable ones.
