Russia launched 1,019 strikes across 52 settlements in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region over a 24-hour period, killing two people and injuring 10, according
to regional authorities on Wednesday. The scale of the barrage included hundreds of drone attacks alongside airstrikes, artillery fire and multiple-launch rocket system attacks across communities stretching from Zaporizhzhia city towards the frontline. Zaporizhzhia regional governor Ivan Fedorov said the casualties were recorded in Zaporizhzhia city and the surrounding district. The regional authorities also received 192 reports of damage to residential buildings, vehicles and infrastructure following the attacks. The figures underline the intensity of Russian attacks across one of Ukraine's most heavily contested regions. Rather than being concentrated in a single location, the strikes were reported across 52 settlements, including communities close to the front line as well as areas further behind it.
Russia Uses Drones, Artillery And Airstrikes
Of the 1,019 reported attacks, 717 involved drones of various types, with FPV drones accounting for the majority, according to the regional authorities. The drone strikes targeted communities including Zaporizhzhia, Kushuhum, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Orikhiv and Mala Tokmachka.
Russian forces also carried out 19 airstrikes against 13 settlements. Among the locations named by regional authorities were Komyshuvakha, Novomykolaivka, Tavriiske, Yuliivka and Orikhiv, along with other communities situated closer to the front line.

A further 276 artillery strikes were recorded against more than 20 settlements, while Russian multiple-launch rocket systems carried out seven attacks.
The latest assault also affected Zaporizhzhia city itself. Russian strikes damaged residential buildings and triggered a fire, with the regional casualty count later updated to two dead and 10 injured across the city and surrounding district.
192 Damage Reports After Massive Barrage
The heavy use of FPV drones adds another layer to the threat faced by communities in the region. These systems can be employed against targets close to the frontline and are increasingly used in attacks on vehicles, positions and infrastructure.
The reported attacks also reached areas away from the immediate front line, demonstrating the broad geographical spread of the Russian campaign in Zaporizhzhia. Communities such as Orikhiv and Mala Tokmachka remain particularly exposed because of their proximity to active fighting.
Ukrainian authorities continue to document damage following the attacks as emergency and local services assess affected areas. The 192 reports recorded after the latest barrage include damage to homes, vehicles and infrastructure, although the full extent of the destruction may take time to establish.
Zaporizhzhia remains strategically important in the Russia-Ukraine war, with Russian and Ukrainian forces operating along a front that has seen sustained use of drones, artillery and aerial weapons. The region also contains critical energy and industrial infrastructure, increasing the potential consequences of repeated strikes.
The latest figures were reported by Zaporizhzhia regional authorities and do not independently establish the effectiveness or intended targets of each Russian strike. They nevertheless provide an indication of the sheer volume of attacks recorded across the region in a single day.
With 1,019 strikes recorded in 24 hours, the latest barrage represents another intense period of Russian military activity across Zaporizhzhia. The combination of 717 drone attacks with hundreds of artillery and other strikes has left communities across the region dealing with casualties, fires and widespread damage as the war continues.
