A Kolkata-to-Gorakhpur IndiGo flight has been grounded at Kolkata Airport after one of the flight crew members allegedly found a “bomb threat letter” inside
the aircraft. Reportedly, the staff member found a piece of paper inside the plane’s lavatory– stating that a bomb had been placed on the aircraft. A search operation is currently underway by a central security agency. More details are awaited. In a separate but similar incident, an Air India Express flight from Dammam, Saudi Arabia, to Delhi made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad’s SVPI Airport. The flight took off from Dammam at 10:25 AM IST. It made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad at around 4:22 PM following a suspected bomb threat. A note mentioning “bomb” was reportedly found inside the aircraft’s washroom. A total of 32 passengers were on board the flight. All passengers were safely moved to Terminal 2 and kept in a secure area. Earlier in June, a bomb threat kept Ahmedabad police and security agencies busy for nearly 10 days, however, it turned out to be a prank allegedly written by a nine-year-old boy after watching a movie. The handwritten note was found on June 1 inside a locker in a room at the sports club of Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium in Navrangpura. The note warned of a bomb blast on June 21 and mentioned underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. The threat led to a major security operation at the premises. Police, bomb disposal teams, dog squads and intelligence agencies searched the area but found no explosives or suspicious objects. As part of the investigation, police looked into several possible leads. They examined CCTV footage, visitor records and digital evidence to trace the person behind the note. The investigation eventually revealed that the note was allegedly written by a nine-year-old boy. Police found that the child had reportedly taken inspiration from a movie while writing the threatening message.
