Did you know that a wrong date of joining or exit can impact your provident fund or pension benefits. The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation has posted
an important alert for all PF subscribers and urged all to check their date of joining and date of exit details in the UAN records and get all errors corrected if need be. A small mistake or mismatch such as an incorrect date of joining or exit can create problems for your PF transfer or claims, warns the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation. The Universal Account Number basically links an employee's details to the PF-related portal online. Members are therefore advised to keep key, updated and correct employment details for their UAN and keep it up to date. The date of joining basically is to establish when an employee became a member of the EPF scheme or a subscriber, while the date of exit is to record when the employment relationship/equation ended. The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation stresses how incorrect information can result in difficulties or delays for an employee's PF transfer or claim-related issues. EPFO has therefore alerted all to double check their details and also offers members a process to seek correction of such details such as date of joining, date of leaving, reason for leaving-subject to the requirement or supporting documents needed. This notification from EPFO is particularly useful for employees who are in the midst of changing jobs or those planning to withdraw their PF amount. In a post on X @officialepfo states, "a small mistake in your Date of Joining or Exit can impact your future benefits. Don't ignore it....Check and correct your details today. Secure your PF and pension," along with an option to scan for more information. Experts believe this basic and prompt check can help you avoid unnecessary delays or complications later. So, if you notice an incorrect Date of Joining, Date of Exit or other employment details, don't wait to initiate the correction process.
