International Airport will be demolished in 2029 once the Navi Mumbai Airport opens. The demolition will begin only after Terminal 2 of Navi Mumbai International Airport is ready, Arun Bansal, chief executive officer (CEO) of Adani Airport Holdings Ltd, said in a media briefing, according to Mint. The operations are expected to begin by December 2025, CIDCO Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Vijay Singhal said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the Navi Mumbai International Airport on Wednesday (tomorrow). The state-of-the-art airport is not just an ordinary airport, as it screams luxury, considering its features, amenities, as well as the huge proximity it offers.
The Navi Mumbai Airport will be the second international airport in Mumbai, after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The airport recently received its aerodrome licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on September 30, clearing the way for operations to begin.

Located strategically near key highways, NMIA will connect to regional rail and metro lines, making it easily accessible from different parts of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
The Navi Mumbai Airport is twice the size of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, as it is spread over 1,160 hectares and is being developed in several phases. Phase 1 of the project will be able to handle around 20 million passengers annually and 0.8 million tonnes of cargo. Once fully completed, the airport will scale up to serve 90 million passengers and manage over 3.2 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo every year, making it one of Asia’s largest aviation hubs.
