A Flydubai flight, FZ1073, made an emergency landing at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday after the
aircraft issued a distress call, airport authorities said. According to the airport, its air traffic control centre received the emergency call at 8:44 am local time on Wednesday (September 30), requesting permission to make an emergency landing. Following the distress call, an emergency was declared at the airport and all necessary preparations were made to assist the aircraft. The flight landed safely at 9:45 am local time, nearly an hour after the emergency call was received. However, airport authorities said that both the captain and co-pilot sustained injuries and were subsequently transported to a hospital for necessary medical treatment. The nature and extent of their injuries have not been disclosed. The airport has reaffirmed its commitment to the regulations and directives issued by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, in accordance with international treaties and agreements concerning the safety of air navigation, passengers, and flight crews. Meanwhile, relevant authorities are currently conducting the necessary investigations.
