What is the story about?
The long-delayed Bengaluru's Hosakerehalli flyover on Outer Ring Road (ORR) is finally about to be completed after five years of waiting, and is expected
to open by mid-November. The 500-metre structure has been constructed to ease traffic congestion on the city's busiest junctions. The project that began in August 2020, with just 15 months of deadline, has been continuously delayed over the period of time. Following the deadline extension, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) faced criticism.
15-day deadline for Hosakerehalli flyover
Now, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has issued a 15-day deadline for completion of the Hosakerehalli flyover, according to a TOI report. During an inspection near PES College in Rajarajeshwari Nagar Zone, Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development) Tushar Giri Nath directed the contractors to complete the project in the next 15 days.
He noted that the construction was delayed due to persistent rainfall.
Meanwhile, BBMP Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao also directed contractors to repair damaged service roads on both sides and ensure proper debris clearance and waste disposal once the project is finished.
Once it is open for traffic, the flyover is expected to ease bottlenecks at the PES College Junction and improve traffic management in the area.

Namma Metro Phase 3 to build city’s longest flyover?
In a separate update, the Karnataka government recently approved a double-decker viaduct project in September, paving the way for groundwork on the Namma Metro Phase 3 in the IT Hub of India, Bengaluru.
Under this plan, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will build elevated metro lines and flyovers along two corridors. The key feature of this project is a 28.5-km flyover, the longest in the city.
The cost of the flyovers will be shared: 50% from the state government, 10% from local urban bodies, and 40% through loans.
