The University of London is set to establish an offshore campus in Hyderabad, Telangana, reports suggest. Officials stated that university representatives
have already started the application process with the University Grants Commission (UGC) which plans to admit the first batch of students in the 2027 academic year. Initially, the university is likely to operate from a temporary office at the Lake View government guesthouse in Hyderabad. In the long run, it is expected to shift to a permanent campus in the proposed ‘Bharat Future City’ being developed on the outskirts of the city. The decision to establish an offshore campus in Hyderabad comes after sustained efforts by state Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to bring globally renowned educational institutions to the city, sources added. The government is working to develop a knowledge hub in the proposed Future City, where offshore campuses of leading global universities are expected to be set up. Sources also indicated that the state is likely to sign agreements with several other international institutions in the near future to establish their presence in Hyderabad.
