What is the story about?
The US Justice Department released three million pages of documents connected to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, officials announced on Friday.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said the release includes 2,000 videos and 180,000 images related to the Epstein case. The new Epstein files included numerous allegations against several prominent leaders, including US President Donald Trump.
Blanche said the release was required under the new Epstein Files Transparency Act, which was passed to make more information about the case public. He added that the department originally had six million documents, but only half of them could be released at this time.
Officials said that the remaining documents contain child sexual abuse material, personal victim information, and sensitive records that cannot legally be released to the public.
