Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged all private and government schools to shift to online classes. This announcement comes a few hours after PM Modi urged Indians
to adopt cost-cutting measures such as avoiding gold purchases, postponing foreign travel and working from home. Modi urged all government, private and aided schools to shift to online claasses, similar to the module adopted by schools and colleges across the country during the Covid-19 pandemic. Modi made this suggestion while inaugurating the Sardardham Hostel complex in Vadodara. This new complex can accommodate 2,000 students with equal facilities for boys and girls. This facility also has amenities such as dining hall, library and auditorium. PM Modi made this statement as the country grapples with the economic fallout of the ongoing Iran-US war and surging crude oil prices. A similar statement was made by the PM in a rally in Hyderabad on May 10 (Sunday). Addressing a BJP rally in Hyderabad, PM Modi said India must conserve foreign exchange reserves and reduce fuel consumption as global supply chains remain under pressure due to the prolonged conflict in West Asia. His appeal to Indians comes a little after US President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s latest peace proposals, which pushed global crude oil prices above $105 a barrel, and have intensified concerns over inflation and energy security worldwide.
