According to DownDetector, YouTube is down, and the internet has turned the outage into a meme storm. As users search heavily for updates, the ‘YouTube
down’ keyword has started trending on Google.
Fresh data from DownDetector indicates widespread disruption on YouTube, with a majority of users encountering problems across different parts of the platform. Around 73 per cent of users have reported issues accessing the website, while 18 per cent are facing difficulties with video streaming. The remaining 9 per cent have flagged problems with the YouTube app itself. At the time this report was being written, outage complaints had already doubled from roughly 3,500 to 7,000, signalling a rapidly escalating situation.
The surge did not stop there. Reports soon climbed further, touching nearly 11,000, underscoring the scale of the outage. In India alone, about 3,336 users reported issues related to YouTube’s services. Of these, 53 per cent cited server connection problems, 34 per cent experienced trouble accessing the website, and 13 per cent complained of video streaming issues.
As of now, YouTube continues to remain unstable, and users across the internet have responded in typical fashion—by flooding social media with memes, jokes, and reactions. The outage has quickly turned into a viral moment online, with the internet refusing to stay calm while waiting for the platform to return to normal.
