Bengaluru's infrastructure has long been questioned over its maintenance. The people have been complaining about the city's unpreparedness for the heavy rains and thunderstorms.
On the contrary, the Karnataka government last week issued a notification to remove the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and establish five city corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).
These city corporations will look after the maintenance work, while the GBA will look into bigger projects. The campaign will include footpath cleaning to stormwater drain desilting.
Moreover, the GBA will comprise a three-tier governance structure, which will be operating as per the hierarchy.
