Terms like ‘rare beauty’ and phrases like ‘once-in-a-lifetime-moment’ are the only ways to sum up a rather “enchanting” video of a mountain flower– that
blooms just once in its lifetime, after growing for 5 to 8 years! Snow Lotus, which is also known as Saussurea involucrata or Saussurea laniceps, is a flower that not everyone will get to see. Not just because it blooms once in many years, but also because it grows in regions that are accessible to only a few; the Himalayas and the Tianshan mountains. The said video was shared on social media, which showed a Snow Lotus in full bloom. Needless to say, the video went viral and left netizens awestruck. The mountain flower survives in extreme cold, as it grows in high altitudes– above 10,000 feet. Not only is it rare and beautiful, but it possesses medicinal properties as well, which can be helpful when it comes to treating issues like rheumatoid arthritis and inflammation. The said video showed the Snow Lotus in full bloom, standing tall on rocks amid strong winds. With high and snow-covered mountain ranges at its back, the flower looked further surreal. Times Now could not confirm the details of the post. Check out the viral post: “High in the Tianshan Mountains, the snow lotus survives some of the harshest conditions on Earth, growing at elevations above 10,000 feet where freezing temperatures, thin air, and intense sunlight make survival difficult. This rare plant takes up to 5 to 8 years to grow and blooms only once in its lifetime, making each sighting incredibly special. Known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, the snow lotus has long been valued in traditional medicine, but overharvesting and climate change are now putting this fragile species at risk,” the post read. The post was shared on Instagram by the handle ‘Times Now’. The post was shared a day ago and pulled more than 37K views from people.
Internet’s reactions:
