The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Cell (CET) has announced its decision to conduct MHT CET exams twice from this year. Both Bachelor of Technology (BTech)
and Master of Business Administration (MBA) exams will be conducted twice a year. Maharashtra's Education Minister Chandrakant Patil has announced that Maharashtra CET boards will conduct the MHT CET exam in April and May from the next academic year (2026). Following the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Main pattern, appearing for one entrance exam will be mandatory for admissions, while appearing for both attempts will be optional. In case of two attempts, the better of the two scores will be considered for admission. Following this order, the first entrance exam for PCM, PCB and MBA will be conducted in April. The second entrance exam will be conducted in May. The detailed schedule has not been announced yet. Concerned candidates are advised to keep an eye on the official website so as not to miss updates. Similarly, students in Maharashtra will get two opportunities through these two entrance exams. A student must give one entrance exam, and the second entrance exam will be optional. If a student gives two entrance exams, the one with the highest score out of the two will be considered for admission." This comes after a review meeting that was conducted under the chairmanship of the education minister regarding the CET. Chief Secretary of the Higher and Technical Education Department B. Venugopal Reddy, Commissioner of the CET Cell Dilip Sardesai, Director of Higher Education Shailendra Devlankar, Director of the Technical Education Department Vinod Mohitkar, and other officials were present in the meeting. Officials told media that the move is designed to ease pressure on students. It will offer greater flexibility for those seeking professional or postgraduate admissions in engineering, medical, and management fields. The aim is to support students in managing their preparation and choices without added stress. Therefore, to sum up, this has been announced to ensure a smoother admission process.
