All government and private schools operating in Haryana's Gurugram (NCR region) have been ordered to shift to online classes for students of upto class 5.
The option to attend classes online shall rest with the students and their guardians. DC Gurugram stated that this decision has been taken in the interest of children’s health and safety. "As per the directions of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), the orders issued on 13 November 2025 regarding conduct of classes up to Grade 5 in hybrid mode in Gurugram district will continue to remain in force until further orders," the DC Gurugram tweeted through the official 'X' account. "Parents and schools are advised to follow the instructions strictly and stay updated for further directions in view of air quality conditions." Also Read |Delhi Schools Closed Tomorrow Live Updates The directive was issued by the DC Gurugram on December 16, 2025 as a continuation to an earlier issued notice from November. "And as the Air Quality Index (AQI) situation in district Gurugram has been in “Very Poor” category in last few days," the earlier issued notice stated. "Therefore, in the interest of the health and safety of the children, it has been decided that classes in schools for children up to class V will be conducted in a ‘Hybrid’ mode i.e. both in Physical and Online mode (wherever Online mode is feasible) in the district Gurugram." This notice comes a day after the Delhi Government issued the same directive a day after announcing hybrid classes for all students except students of class 12. This decision was announced on Saturday after the Delhi government had invoked the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage 4, under which all government and private schools in Delhi were ordered to remain shut till further notice. The Minister of Education, Ashish Sood said that all Heads of Schools have been directed to ensure strict compliance with these instructions and to immediately inform parents and guardians about the revised arrangements. Additionally, all government and private offices in Delhi have been directed to operate at 50 per cent capacity and give work from home (WFH) to the remaining 50 per cent.
