What is the story about?
Mumbai: An Air India flight bound for Jodhpur had to abort take-off at Mumbai airport on Friday morning after a sudden technical issue forced the aircraft
to halt on the runway. Flight AI645, scheduled to depart at 9:25 am from Terminal 2, had already gained full speed for take-off when it unexpectedly stopped. According to passengers, they were immediately asked to disembark and return to the gates. After some time, boarding resumed, though it was not clear whether the same aircraft was used or a replacement was arranged.
Air India's Statement
Air India Spokesperson told Times Now, "Flight AI645 operating from Mumbai to Jodhpur on 22 August returned to the bay due to an operational issue. The cockpit crew decided to discontinue the take-off run following standard operating procedures and brought the aircraft back. Alternative arrangements were made to fly the passengers to their destination."Passengers were later informed that the aborted take-off was caused by a technical snag in the aircraft.
In a separate news, an Air India Express flight from Bengaluru to Gwalior, carrying 160 passengers, failed to land in its first attempt on Saturday. The airplane later touched down successfully on its second attempt. The airline said the flight "conducted a go-around followed by a safe and uneventful landing."
Technical staff examined the aircraft after landing and found no fault, Gwalior airport director A K Goswami told PTI. The failure to land on the first attempt, however, caused panic among the passengers for a brief while, he said. The aircraft later took off for Bengaluru and reached there safely.
Goswami also said that a failure to land in the first attempt is a normal occurrence. Some passengers lodged complaints with the airport and airline officials after deboarding, another official said.
