New Delhi: India’s IT major Infosys is reportedly planning an off-campus hiring drive, with compensation packages going up to Rs 21 lakh per annum. As
per the report in Moneycontrol, the hiring will focus to boost its AI initiatives, offering engineering and computer science graduates, an annual compensation ranging from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 21 lakh. The roles on offer include Specialist Programmer (Levels 1 to 3) and Digital Specialist Engineer (trainee). These positions are open to BE, BTech, ME, MTech, MCA and integrated MSc graduates from computer science, IT and select circuit branches such as electronics and electrical engineering, the report said. Under the Specialist Programmer track, trainees at Level 3 can earn up to Rs 21 lakh per annum, while Level 2 offers Rs 16 lakh and Level 1 Rs 11 lakh. The Digital Specialist Engineer (trainee) role comes with a package of Rs 7 lakh per annum, the report added. This, he said, requires both upskilling existing employees and hiring young, digitally skilled talent with strong technical expertise. “Our early-career hiring includes both campus and off-campus drives. We have also expanded opportunities under the Specialist Programmer track, with packages going up to Rs 21 lakh a year,” Mathew said. Low starting salaries have been a long-standing concern for engineering graduates. Pay at India’s top IT firms has remained largely flat for more than a decade. During this period, the median annual pay of IT CEOs jumped 835% - from Rs 3.37 crore in FY12 to Rs 31.5 crore in FY22 - while the average fresher salary rose just 45%, from Rs 2.45 lakh to Rs 3.55 lakh.
