Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday reacted to US President Donald Trump's positive assessment of India-US ties amid the tariff war, remarking that
he deeply appreciates and fully reciprocates the sentiments. "Deeply appreciate and fully reciprocate President Trump's sentiments and positive assessment of our ties. India and the US have a very positive and forward-looking Comprehensive and Global Strategic Partnership," said PM Modi.
His remarks came after Trump on Friday rowed back from his own Truth Social post that America had "lost India and Russia to China," insisting he did not believe that was the case. Responding to ANI at a media session at the White House, Trump stressed his "very good" relations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, despite India's purchase of Russian oil.
When asked by ANI, "Are you ready to reset relations with India at this point?", Trump said, "I always will. I'll always be friends with (PM) Modi. He's a great Prime Minister. I'll always be friends, but I just don't like what he is doing at this particular moment. But India and the United States have a very special relationship. There is nothing to worry about. We just have moments on occasion".
