2 Missing In Sahastradhara Amid Torrential Rains
Officials confirmed that two persons are missing in Sahastradhara, one of the worst-affected spots in the city. Locals were evacuated overnight as floodwaters entered hotels, shops, and residential colonies.
A source said that while the missing may be safe elsewhere, search and rescue operations are underway. "The roads are blocked but we are working on reaching there. Locals have claimed that this was a cloudburst but we are verifying those facts. A few shops have been washed away but there has been no loss of human life," said Rishabh Kumar, District Disaster Management Officer.
Maldevta Bridge Swept Away, Markets Submerged
The Maldevta approach bridge collapsed overnight, cutting off access to the region and leaving many villages stranded. In Dehradun's main market, heavy debris entered shops and damaged at least two small hotels. Floodwater was also seen gushing near IT Park, forcing authorities to shut roads.
Tapkeshwar Mahadev Mandir Suffers Damage
The iconic Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple, one of Dehradun's most visited spiritual sites, has been left in ruins. Rubble now covers most of the temple premises, with chairs and other items washed away.
Red Alert, Schools Closed In Dehradun District
The district administration has issued a red alert till 9 am and ordered all schools in Dehradun to remain closed. Residents living close to riverbanks have been advised to stay alert as the Tamsa, Tons, and Song rivers continue to rise dangerously.
Videos showing flooded streets, damaged structures, and submerged vehicles in Premnagar and Nanda Ki Chowki are going viral on social media. Nearby towns including Rishikesh and Mussoorie have also reported heavy rain damage.
