Delhi is expected to witness another day of active monsoon conditions on Wednesday, July 30, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting
a generally cloudy sky accompanied by moderate rain and thunderstorms throughout the day. Light to moderate rainfall is likely during the morning and forenoon, with thunderstorms and lightning expected to continue into the night. The maximum temperature is expected to settle around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may hover near 25 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels are likely to remain high, ranging between 80 per cent and 95 per cent. The forecast comes a day after heavy monsoon showers brought Delhi to a standstill on Tuesday, triggering widespread waterlogging, severe traffic congestion, fallen trees, localized flooding, and power outages across several parts of the national capital. According to the IMD, Tuesday was Delhi's rainiest day of the year so far and the coldest day recorded in the month of July in the past three years. Safdarjung, the city's base weather station, recorded 57.6 mm of rainfall between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., while Pusa received the highest rainfall at 88.5 mm during the same period. Looking ahead, the IMD has forecast generally cloudy skies with light rain on July 31, with no weather warning in place. Similar conditions are expected from August 1 to August 4, with light rain likely to continue across the city under cloudy skies. While rainfall activity is expected to ease compared to Tuesday's downpour, intermittent monsoon showers are likely to persist over the coming days.
