A candid video shared by a Canadian traveller has sparked conversation online after she documented a tense moment during her journey through India, offering
a raw look at the challenges that can come with solo travel. The clip, posted on Instagram by Canadian content creator Klaudia Falenta, captures her emotional reaction to an unsettling encounter at a busy Delhi railway station. Explaining her decision to post the video, Klaudia admitted she initially hesitated because she felt uncomfortable seeing herself upset on camera. “I almost didn’t wanna include these clips, because it’s so out of my character to be angry like this and I don’t like seeing it,” she wrote. Still, she felt removing the footage would undermine her aim of presenting travel honestly and without filters. Reflecting on the reality of travel, she added, “Travel is not always positive and happy and that’s when you grow the most as a person.” The video begins with Klaudia appearing visibly distressed inside the station. Struggling to contain her anxiety, she tells viewers, “Sorry, I hate Delhi stations. This man just tried to straight-up scam me Oh my god, I’m literally foaming in my mouth.” She goes on to label it “another crazy travel day in India,” confessing that the experience “definitely got my blood boiling.” Klaudia explains that she was scheduled to travel from Delhi to Varanasi on an eight-hour train journey. After reaching New Delhi railway station by Uber, she was stopped near the entrance by a man who asked to check her ticket. She claims he told her the ticket was invalid and insisted she accompany him to a different office to resolve the issue.
“He basically tried to scam me,” she says, recalling how she spent close to 10 minutes arguing with the man while showing him evidence that her ticket was valid.
The situation became even more stressful when she realised her train was set to depart in just 10 minutes. “I believe this man was stalling for time, so I missed my train and I had to buy a ticket from him,” she says, suggesting the delay may have been deliberate.
The incident, however, took a turn when she managed to enter the station and learned that her platform had been shifted. A passerby who spoke Hindi stepped in to help her navigate through less obvious routes inside the station. “Thank God for this guy because he spoke Hindi and I couldn’t,” Klaudia says, acknowledging that she would not have found the platform on her own.
With his assistance, she reached the train moments before departure. “So thankfully, I got to the train and I could breathe,” she says, describing the experience as “an intense one.”
Once aboard, the tension eased. Klaudia shared that she was seated beside a friendly family who offered travel tips for Varanasi, helping her relax after the ordeal. “I sat down, and I enjoyed the beautiful view on the train,” she notes, adding that despite the rocky beginning, the journey itself turned out to be enjoyable.
The video drew largely supportive responses online, with many viewers commending her awareness and resilience. One user commented, “Well done recognising the scam and moving away from it. Look after yourself and enjoy your travels,” while another wrote, “You’re so brave. I hope you made some wonderful memories in India.”
Many travellers related to Klaudia’s experience, praising the honesty of her post. For several viewers, it served as a reminder that while travel can be rewarding and inspiring, it can also be stressful—and sharing those moments is just as important as showcasing the highlights.
