Dense Smog Chokes Delhi-NCR, Visibility Takes a Hit
Visuals from multiple locations, including the AIIMS flyover in south Delhi and Noida’s Sector 37, showed vehicles crawling through thick, toxic haze. The smog sharply reduced visibility late into the night, underlining the worsening pollution levels as winter intensifies. Authorities said the situation is particularly dangerous during early morning hours when fog and smog combine, making road travel risky.

IndiGo issues travel advisory, "Delhi and Hindon (Airport) continue to remain wrapped in chilly winter air and lingering fog this morning. The fluctuating visibility has led to changes in flight schedules, and operations may be slower than usual as conditions evolve. Our teams on the ground are prioritising safety and compliance with visibility requirements...Once the weather settles, operations will gradually stabilise, and flights will depart as planned. Thank you for your patience and understanding." Apart from these other airlines are also expected to face disruption. According to the IMD’s seven-day outlook, Delhi is likely to witness mainly clear skies punctuated by moderate to very dense fog during morning hours over the coming days. Experts warn that prevailing calm wind conditions and low temperatures are conducive to the accumulation of pollutants, suggesting that poor air quality is likely to persist in the near term.Residents have been urged to stay alert, avoid non-essential travel during early hours, and follow health advisories as Delhi continues to battle the combined assault of cold, fog and toxic air.
