Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest man, is marking Reliance Industries’ latest milestone with celebrations that match the scale of the conglomerate’s ambitions.
Following the record-breaking stock market debut of Jio Platforms, the billionaire’s telecom and digital business, Reliance has planned a grand event featuring drone displays, DJ performances and live music near a helipad. Jio Platforms’ $3.2 billion initial public offering (IPO) became India’s largest-ever share sale, attracting unprecedented investor demand. The company’s shares rose 21 per cent on Wednesday, October 28, taking its market valuation to $131.5 billion. The celebrations began even before the company’s listing, with large gatherings at Reliance Corporate Park near Mumbai. Social media posts from employees showed extensive arrangements, including food stalls, dance performances and musical sessions, turning the occasion into a campus-wide celebration, according to a Reuters report. Jio IPO Celebration: Drone Show, DJs And Live Music Reliance is organising a major event following Jio Platforms’ market debut on Wednesday. According to an internal invitation seen by Reuters, the programme will include a drone show, DJ performances and a jam session featuring popular Indian singers. The festivities are taking place alongside a helipad, adding another distinctive element to the celebrations. Employee-shared videos on social media showed hundreds of people dancing to live music, while one clip featured women in red outfits performing on a brightly illuminated stage. Other scenes captured attendees holding up their phones to record the celebrations as flower petals and confetti fell around them. The gatherings also featured multiple food stalls serving Indian street food, alongside performances and musical sessions combining devotional sounds with contemporary rhythms. Why Mukesh Ambani’s IPO Party Is Drawing Attention The scale of the celebrations reflects Ambani’s reputation for hosting elaborate events around major family and business milestones. While many Indian companies mark their stock market listings with relatively understated corporate gatherings, the Reliance celebrations appear to be taking a different approach. "Given the Ambani family’s unique wedding celebrations, its IPO festivities are also expected to be out of the ordinary," said Ambareesh Baliga, an independent market analyst in Mumbai, states the Reuters report. Jio Platforms IPO Sets A Record In India The listing marks a major moment for Jio Platforms, which operates across telecommunications and digital services. Its $3.2 billion IPO drew record bids, underlining investor interest in the company and its position in India’s digital economy. The 21 per cent jump in its shares on Wednesday valued the business at $131.5 billion, highlighting the scale of the market debut. For Reliance, the offering also represents its first IPO in two decades, making the occasion particularly significant for the conglomerate and its chairman.
