Restaurant food hygiene and safety in India were yet again in question after another customer lost their ‘appetite’ upon spotting something extremely unexpected
at the dinner table. Dr Ashok Seth, Chairman of Fortis Escorts Heart Institute and the Fortis Healthcare Medical Council, recently shared a video on social media that went viral, leaving many people reacting and even ‘resonating’ with the incident. According to the video, Seth had gone out for a weekend dinner with a few others in Mumbai when the group spotted a “baby cockroach” casually crawling on their dinner table. According to the post, the incident took place at “Romano restaurant at JW Marriott, Sahar, Mumbai”, on Saturday, September 19. Along with sharing the video and addressing the matter with a touch of light sarcasm, Seth also pinned his hopes on Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, stating that he would most likely look into the matter. “Look who came for dinner unexpectedly. ‘Roachie’ - a baby *cockroach was on our table wanting to share our dinner at the Romano restaurant at JW Marriott, Sahar, Mumbai, Saturday night*!!! After much virality, the post also received a response from the restaurant: “Hello Dr Ahok, thank you for letting us know. We take this matter seriously. We would like to look into it for you.
